Meet Ayla + Jacob

We met each other 9 years ago & have travelled + worked in many places around the world but fell in love with the Costa Brava. After Covid, we decided to pack up our lives in Belgium + move to Girona, together with our 1 year old daughter.

Idle hands is a place that combines some of our passions — great food, coffee, wine, music & art. Jacob has worked in speciality coffee for over 10 years + had his own coffee roastery + coffee shop in Antwerp.

Ayla is a jewellery designer by training + the creative mind behind the interior design + art exhibitions in Idle Hands.

What’s the meaning behind the name?

“Idle hands are the devil’s playthings.” When Jacob suggested this name for our restaurant he thought of this old saying, meaning: “If you don't keep yourself busy you are more likely to get yourself into trouble.”

When Ayla heard 'Idle Hands,' she interpreted it as: “All customers can come in, relax and let their hands be 'Idle' — We will look after you!”

Which do you prefer? Come in and have a chat with us! We are looking forward to welcoming you soon to our venue.
